We understand you may be feeling anxious. That’s to be expected with any high-risk pregnancy.

But rest assured, our pregnancy experts will be with you every step of the way to completely prepare you for the birth of your baby. In addition to a fetal medicine coordinator, our caring and supportive staff will help you through the entire process.

The Referral Process

Physician Referral

To refer a patient to the Ohio Fetal Medicine Collaborative, please contact the fetal medicine coordinator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital by calling (866) 978-2362 or (614) 722-6520. Once a referral from a perinatologist is made, we will schedule the initial appointment, as well as any additional diagnostics that may be required. If it is determined that additional subspecialty care is needed, we will also coordinate those appointments through this location. Please have the following information ready when referring:

  • Diagnosis
  • Subspecialists needed/appropriate for interdisciplinary clinic
  • Extra testing required

The coordinator will call the referring perinatologist and/or family back with an appointment time. If the patient needs to be seen within a business day and lives more than one hour away, arrangements to stay the night will be made by the coordinator.

Patient Referral

If you are a patient who is self-referring, please talk to your OB/GYN and/or perinatologist and bring a copy of your medical records to your first appointment. If you, in conjunction with your OB/GYN, determine that you need a perinatologist and do not have one, the coordinator will be happy to assist you in finding one within the Ohio Fetal Medicine Collaborative.
